Well we did it!! My friend Frank and I did our Zija Bombs at 7:00 this morning and at 7:30 we walked. We started last and finished last but had a great time and helped raise money for a great cause!
The temp was cool, in the low 80's! very comfortable considering the last few weeks.
The difference from last year is NO PAIN!!! We kicked a very steady pace for 2 miles and I have NO PAIN!!!
Several years ago I ran 5 miles at least twice a week and really enjoyed it. Life got in the way with schedules and all and before you know it...
Now I go walk Monday, Wednesday, Friday and take Sunday off. I jog the last quarter of my distance. I do strength training on our Crossbow on the opposite days
We have changed our food habits too. It's probably been around 2 months since we had McDonald's. We did have Wendy's while on vacation though and a few cokes but really not too much. Baby steps...
I cook more at home than Tammy. She's an awesome cook but I like it more. We do a lot of salads and veggies and try to stay away from the fried stuff. I grill a LOT! Including grilled veggies!! So we are learning together that a change of mindset is a good thing.
I feel like I have a new chance to live and I'm not going to waste it.

Races for Life 2012
Now in the morning I will be a participant in the 2nd Annual Dr. Chris M. Griffin Races for Life. It is a benefit for Teen suicide prevention of Chads Coalition.
I did this last year and actually WON A TROPHY!!!! I also got passed by 4 women pushing baby strollers!! 1 of them passed me TWICE!! Humility!!
My hips knees and ankles paid the price though. The pain was severe.
This year I have a secret weapon! I watched a video of world record holder Luke Curry doing a Zija bomb before a workout! soooo...

My journey back to good health!!
Most of the last several years I've really struggled with weight. I was 212lbs and wore a 34 waist when I got out of the Air Force in 1992.
I've always been able to just "jog it off" when I'd find my jeans fitting a little too tight and over the next several years I didn't sweat it! "Hey, no big deal! I'll just start jogging and no problem...right??!!" Just like the frog in hot water, suddenly I woke up to find no matter what I'd do it just wouldn't come off. Well CRAP! Now what'll I do?
Nearly 10 years ago I lost my job in a factory. I was a very hot, busy physical job and I held at about 350lbs. It was hard but manageable. When I lost that job I also lost hope.
I was unsuccessful finding a job after that so my wife and I opened a take-out and delivery BBQ joint. Probably not my smartest move because when it comes to BBQ, I CAN cook! So over the next few years my weight exploded to about 445lbs
We ended up closing the restaurant to focus on our BBQ sauce business.
I would try to control my eating habits and exercise more but would pull a muscle or my knees would hurt so badly it was hard to walk.
It would generally take 2 to 3 weeks before I could try again only to have the same thing happen again. I haven't really over eaten in years but without exercise I would just plateau. Couldn't lose but wouldn't gain either.
Around 3 months ago 2 good friends told me about this stuff called Zija. Both of these guys are very even tempered to the point they just don't get excited about anything at all except maybe sports. But they were FIRED UP about this stuff. Both these guys have serious credibility with me as one is a physical Therapy assistant the other trains in MMA and both have spent their whole lives in incredible physical condition and they are TOTALLY into this stuff!
I could have been anything and I was gonna try it just because these guy were so into it!!
Zija is made from the Moringa tree which is the most nutritious plant on earth.

Being of limited income I had to back off of the weight loss products and just drink the XM+. I did gain some weight back but the knees still feel great and I leveled off at 18lbs lost.
About 3 weeks ago one of my friends approached me at church and told me that he and his wife and some other people had decided to invest in me and bought me a 30 day supply of the weight loss products. I was FLOORED. WOW!!!
So the adventure continues!!!
I wish I had a better report but we had a setback called a vacation! I still did the program but couldn't be really consistent with it. Mainly the exercise. I had started walking a few weeks ago and had upped my game to jogging the last quarter mile or so of each walk AND doing strength training on the opposite days.
I got home to find I had added 6 lbs. CRAP!!!
